JOB TITTLE: MIDWIFE/ MATERNITY NURSE

REPORTS TO: MATERNITY NURSE-IN CHARGE.

a) JOB PURPOSE

Ensure high-quality clinical care to all patients through provision of effective nursing services as a Registered Nursing Officer.

b) MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain the highest possible standard of client care by adhering to the hospital standard treatment protocols and guidelines.
  • Identify obstetric complications and institute appropriate and timely interventions.
  • Effective monitoring and evaluation of patients admitted in the maternity ward.
  • Administer medication and perform medical procedures within prevailing Hospital guidelines and protocols.
  • Ensure outstanding client experience.
  • Counsel and prepare mothers for labor, childbirth and postpartum.
  • Monitor and manage pregnant mothers during labor and childbirth and ensure timely intervention in case of emergency.
  • Conducting safe deliveries
  • Provide care for mothers and new-born after birth.
  • Ensure proper documentation in partograph.
  • Educate and support mothers in breastfeeding and care for the new-born.
  • Follow through investigations and procedures ordered by doctors during ward rounds.
  • Provide comprehensive client counselling e.g., reproductive health, HIV, vaccination, pap smear &
  • Ensure maintenance and availability of medical equipment in the doctors’ and nursing room.
  • Professionally and timely prepare and present regular nursing reports.

c) MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS

  • A registered midwife - Kenya Registered Midwife (KRM) or Kenya Registered Nurse Midwife (KRM/N) or a Registered Nurse with Bachelors (BScN) 
  • A bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
  • Must be registered by the Nursing Council of Kenya with a Valid Practicing License
  • Experience - 2 years of experience in a busy maternity or its equivalent 
  • Must have Valid BLS/EMONC/ALSO/ETAT+ and ACLS certificates

JOB TITTLE: REVENUE OFFICER

REPORTS TO: CHIEF REVENUE OFFICER

a) Job Purpose

The revenue officer role is to participate in all aspects of patient identification, registration, processing and accounts receivable functions of the hospital. The job will entail billing, charge entry, payment posting, reconciliation and provide the ‘Premier experience’.

b) Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify eligibility, register, bill and document patients for all services issued including on the provided online platforms e.g. SLADE, SMART, LCT, SHA, MTIBA.
  • Safeguard and manage the cash and cash equivalents for accuracy of transactions and billing.
  • Document refunds for overpaid accounts and follow up for such funds to be paid back to the correct payer in a timely manner.
  • Ensure daily real-time updates of all inpatient services to ensure that all bills are accurate and that all charges have been accurately posted to the Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) at any given point in time to ensure reliable interim and final bills.
  • Ensure all requisite IP documentation is available before, on, or during admission, and that all necessary admission procedures have been duly followed according to specific requirements of different insurance companies and for cash-paying clients, including consents and payment commitments.
  • Ensuring the discharge procedure authorization and billing closing are followed and appropriate approval is obtained within agreed TAT.
  • Serve and protect the hospital’s image by adhering to professional standards, hospital policies and excellent customer experience for the clients·
  • Ensuring that all the insurance company requirements are met before claims are submitted

c) Minimum Requirements/Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Business Administration, Commerce or any related.
  • Certified Public Accountant is an added advantage.
  • At least 2 years’ working experience preferably in a healthcare set-up.
  • Computer literate.

The role involves managing patient flow, handling inquiries, and maintaining high standards of service in line with the hospital's commitment to excellence in healthcare delivery.

JOB TITTLE: CLINICAL PHARMACIST

REPORTS TO: MEDICAL DIRECTOR

a) JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for providing leadership and management oversight of the pharmacy services department and ensure delivery of quality and efficient pharmacy services in line with the established protocols and the Hospital’s patient care objectives and the licensing board guidelines and policies.

b) MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure compliance with professional and legal practice and standard operating procedures
  • Fill prescriptions for inpatients and outpatients
  • Attend ward rounds and participate in multidisciplinary patient care.
  • Conduct drug utilization reviews
  • To serve as an active member and to give professional advice to the Antibiotic Stewardship, Medicines and Therapeutic, Infection Control, and other Advisory Committees
  • Undertaking clinical checks on all treatment sheets and prescriptions for suitability of treatment.
  • Monitor drug therapy and carry out clinical pharmacy interventions for both in patients and outpatients in liaison with the patient care team.
  • Reporting, Monitoring and analysis of medication errors, adverse drug reactions and other quality and patient safety indicators.
  • Prepare and submit all monthly, quarterly, and annual reports in line with requirements.
  • Carry out medication use counselling and adherence monitoring for patients on chronic treatment.
  • Ensure institutional compliance with antibiotic stewardship guidelines restrictions
  • Undertake medication reconciliation during patient admission and discharge.
  • Participate and supervise staff in sterile compounding, chemotherapy reconstitution and extemporaneous preparations.
  • Provide information and education on drugs and medication therapy to patients, healthcare workers and other hospital personnel.
  • Conduct continuous professional development sessions for pharmacy staff.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

 

c) MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy from a recognized institution
  • Valid membership and hold a practicing license with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Kenya.
  • Possesses a valid practicing license from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Kenya, which must be available for use by the hospital if needed.
  • MBA is an added advantage
  • A minimum of two (2) years clinical pharmaceutical experience in a busy hospital.

JOB TITTLE:  RADIOGRAPHER

REPORTS TO:  RESIDENT RADIOLOGIST

a) JOB PURPOSE

To work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team in the provision of a safe, efficient, and high-quality diagnostic imaging services while developing and maintaining high standards of patient care amongst peers, and colleagues and support the department in achieving the departmental and hospital objectives.

b) MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Independently undertake general x-ray, ct-scan, portable and theater radiography with precision and accuracy with minimal supervision. To be accountable for own actions and work within codes of Practice and professional guidelines.
  • To independently undertake and report diagnostic ultrasound procedures, maintaining a high professional standard of technical competence and ensuring excellent standards of care at all time.
  • To take professional responsibility for ensuring compliance always with the appropriate legislation and radiation local rules to ensure that during work, standards of radiation protection are maintained for self, patients, other staff and members of the public.
  • To interpret complex data to ascertain and identify any pathological or incidental findings observable.
  • To assess and adapt techniques following assessment for each procedure to meet individual needs of the patient.
  • To analyze the clinical information and determine most appropriate x-ray or scanning method, utilizing judgement and skill to incorporate different techniques i.e. transabdominal or intracavitary, or doppler to obtain required information.
  • To handle potentially stressful, upsetting or emotional situations in an appropriate empathetic manner. · Assist patients as required i.e. disabled, elderly patients with undressing and dressing if the nurse or patient relative is unavailable, also to take responsibility for the area of the patient whilst undertaking the procedure.
  • To maintain knowledge and be fully aware of the safety aspects and hazards, and related emergency procedures for the working area.
  • To be able to work using visual display units for long periods of time to enable correct images to be processed and to provide a comprehensive and timely diagnostic report on images obtained to relevant medical personnel.
  • To offer appropriate guidance to patients, care givers and other health professionals on both x-ray and ultrasound procedures and issues, while taking due consideration of patient’s condition.
  • To identify and report equipment failures immediately, by liaising with third party equipment support centers to arrange services.
  • To use own initiative to re-arrange work lists in the event of equipment failure, organize alternative cover and ensure relevant staff in the hospital are informed particularly if this occurs out of normal working hours.
  • To assist in the evaluation and procurement process for any new equipment within the radiology department. Be fully conversant of appropriate actions to take in the event of an untoward incident in the area ·
  • To achieve and maintain competence in imaging modalities such as CT, Ultrasound, Plain film radiography, theater radiography, mobile radiography.
  • To flexibly provide cover for unexpected absence to ensure maintenance of service provision · To ensure compliance with protocols and procedures in relation to ionizing radiation in the areas under their supervision.
  • To maintain a clean working environment, this includes clearing bloody fluids and products of conception in accordance with policy.
  • To be continually mindful of using resources in an efficient manner.
  • To use safely, and supervise the use of very expensive specialist equipment with care and due diligence. Assist in ordering, checking and monitoring of stock, making the manager aware of any concerns as they arise.
  • To inform and obtain informed consent from patients or their care givers prior to undertaking procedures as appropriate to individual circumstances and barriers.
  • To communicate the results of normal and abnormal scans to patients and relatives, sensitively and with empathy. Ensure that information is clearly understood and assist in determining appropriate referral pathway to other health care professionals.
  • To promote good relations with other directorates and hospitals
  • To take part in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and the department’s personal appraisal scheme.

 

c) MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma in Radiography (Medical Imaging and Diagnostic Science) from a recognized institution
  • Higher Diploma in Ultrasound added advantage
  • 2-3 Years working experience
  • Any other specialty certificate e.g. CT, MRI, Ultrasound
